Setup TimeCapsule
Getting Started with TimeCapsule
Congratulations on your new TimeCapsule! We hope you have a great time preserving your memories. Follow this guide to get your device up and running in minutes.
1. Hardware Setup
Connect Power: Plug the included Power Supply into your TimeCapsule.
Connect Network: Connect the Ethernet cable to your router and the TimeCapsule.
Power On: The LED on the device should light up automatically.
Note: If the LED does not light up, press the power button once to turn it on manually.
Boot Up: Please allow a few minutes for the device to boot up and come online.
2. Activation & Dashboard
Once the device is running, you need to activate it via the Solia Dashboard.
Navigate to https://dashboard.solia.one/login/activate.
Locate your Serial Number printed on the bottom of your TimeCapsule.
Enter the Serial Number into the dashboard.
⚠️ Security Warning Do not share your Serial Number with anyone. This acts as your secret key. Sharing it could allow unauthorized access to your device.
The system will validate the Serial Number and run automatic security checks.
Create Admin Account: Follow the prompts to enter your credentials. This creates the main Administrator account used to manage the device and view insights.
Note: Upon registration, the TimeCapsule automatically creates an Immich user with these same Admin credentials. You can use these to log into the mobile app immediately.
3. Mobile App Installation
To start backing up photos, you need to set up the app on your phone.
Download the Immich app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Open the app. You will be requested to enter a Server URL.
Enter the following Relay URL:
Log In: Use the credentials you just created on the dashboard.
Note: If you are setting this up for a family member, use the credentials generated for them in the Dashboard.
Change Password: You will be asked to change your password. You may enter the same password again if you wish to keep it unchanged. Log in once more to confirm.
4. Configuring Backup
Permissions: Grant the app access to your full photo library when prompted.
Enable Backup:
Tap the Cloud Icon located next to your profile picture in the top right corner.
Select the specific albums you wish to save, or select your Entire Library.
Toggle Enable Backup.
You are all done! From now on, your photos and videos will automatically back up to your TimeCapsule from anywhere in the world. No maintenance or complex configuration is required—it just works.
Managing Users & Privacy
You can invite family and friends to use your TimeCapsule via the Solia Dashboard.
How to add a new user:
Log in to the Dashboard.
Create a new user and assign a temporary password.
Share the credentials with your family member.
Privacy Guarantee
When the new user logs into the app for the first time, the system will force them to change their password. This ensures that their private photos remain accessible only to them—even the Admin cannot access them.
Updates
Check your Dashboard periodically. We frequently release updates and announce new features to improve your TimeCapsule experience.
